Global Health Residency Pathway
The Global Health Pathway offers residents the opportunity to integrate global health into their training. This aligns with the institution’s mission to improve pediatric health outcomes locally and globally and promote innovation.
Residents can participate in educational activities throughout the year or complete a Certificate in Global Health, which includes simulation, skills training and the biannual Global Child Health Course. Participants gain skills in international partnership building, health systems strengthening and caring for diverse populations—including refugees and children living in poverty.
To qualify for the Certificate in Global Child Health, residents must complete one activity from each of the following categories by graduation:
- Didactic teaching
- International or Immigrant Health Elective
- Final educational product or presentation
In recent years, residents have completed international or immigrant health electives in the following areas:
- Border Health
- Haiti
- Honduras
- India
- Indian Health Service
- Laos
- Lesotho
- Philippines
- Thailand
- Uganda
- Uruguay
