Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) at Children’s National are highly knowledgeable and serve as an integral part of the development and implementation of our patients' personalized treatment plans. Children's National Hospital employs over 280 APPs in the medical staff. Our APPs practice in several different specialty and sub-specialty areas, at locations in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, and are nationally board-certified in the specialty areas of pediatrics, family, and newborn populations.

Advanced Practice Providers encompass the following professions:

  • Anesthesiologist Assistants (AA)
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA)
  • Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS)
  • Nurse Practitioners (NP)
  • Physician Assistants (PA)

Our APPs play a key role in developing strategies to provide the best possible health outcomes for children in our care. They are a part of the healthcare team and are committed to putting patients first

Advanced Practice Provider Students

Children's National Hospital is a highly sought-after clinical site for graduate nursing student rotations. Graduate nursing student clinical rotation site opportunities and availability will vary per semester. Clinical placement is competitive and not guaranteed with submission of an application. All prospective nurse practitioner students are welcome to place rotation requests through myClinicalExchange (MCE). All prospective students’ schools must have a current affiliate agreement with Children’s National.
