Welcome
Welcome to the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at Children’s National Hospital. As one of the nation’s premier training programs, we are proud to offer an immersive and comprehensive surgical experience within a dynamic academic environment. Our fellowship is designed to prepare you for success in pediatric surgery through high-volume operative training, close faculty mentorship, and a strong commitment to academic excellence.
Our program traces its roots to 1964, when Dr. Judson Randolph — one of the pioneers of modern pediatric surgery — established the fellowship at Children’s National. In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the field, the Judson G. Randolph Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery was established upon his retirement to honor his legacy of excellence in surgical care, teaching and mentorship. As Dr. Randolph wisely said, “If you’re going to advance the field, you don’t do it alone. You do it by teaching others.” Today, we proudly carry that legacy forward.
At Children’s National, fellows lead a collaborative and supportive surgical team. Our patients come from across the country and around the world, providing fellows with broad exposure to both routine and complex pediatric surgical conditions. With access to world-class resources, advanced technologies and a diverse patient population, our fellows graduate with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in any clinical or academic setting.
We invite you to explore what makes our fellowship truly unique — from our engaged faculty and culture of education to our home in Washington, D.C., a city rich in history, innovation and opportunity.
Sincerely,
