Opportunities for Nursing Students

Nursing at Children's National Hospital
We provide excellent pediatric nursing care that improves healthcare outcomes for children.
As a new graduate nurse, you will get the clinical experience and support you need to successfully transition from nursing student to practicing nurse at Children’s National Hospital.
Our LAUNCH Nurse Trainee Program is a 12- to 14-week paid summer externship for nursing students who:
- Are halfway through their nursing program
- Have completed a medical/surgical and/or pediatric clinical rotation
You’ll start with a four-day general orientation to our organization and nursing practice, as well as a clinical orientation to your assigned unit. Then, you’ll work closely with a nurse manager, preceptor and supervisor to experience life as a pediatric nurse and engage directly with patients.
For more information, contact our nurse recruitment team.

Our New Graduate Nursing Residency Program, also known as our Transition to Practice Program (TPP), is Accredited with Distinction from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The 12-month program is designed to provide the nurse resident with an opportunity to transition into the role of a professional nurse under the guidance and support of our clinical nursing staff, nurse educators and program facilitators.
