About the LAUNCH Program
This 12– to 14–week paid summer internship includes a four-day orientation, additional clinical orientation to an assigned unit and the opportunity to work closely with a nurse manager, preceptor and supervisor. As a Leading the Advancement of Undergraduate Nurses at Children’s National (LAUNCH) Nurse Trainee, you will experience what it really is like to be a pediatric nurse and you will be able to complete all the tasks a certified nursing assistant may perform.
LAUNCH Nurse Trainee Program Webinar
We are pleased to invite sophomore and junior nursing students to a virtual “Nurse Recruiter Tell All” session on Friday, November 7. This event is designed to provide valuable information about our LAUNCH Nurse Trainee Program, including details about the program structure and the application process. This session offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from our nurse recruiters, gain insight into what we look for in applicants and ask any questions you may have.
Application Process
For 2026, the program will have two start dates: May 11 and May 26, 2026.
We will accept applications for the 2026 LAUNCH Nurse Trainee Program from Monday, November 3 through Monday December 8, 2025.
All applications should include:
- Completed application
- Cover letter *
- Resume: Be sure to outline clinical experience *
- Transcript (Official or unofficial) *
- Two letters of reference: One letter should be from clinical faculty *
* All requested documents must be attached to your official application. Emailed documents will not be accepted.
Selected candidates will then be invited to attend a virtual interview with a member of the Nurse Recruitment team. Interviews will be recorded and shared with unit leadership. The interviews will be held in January 2026. Final decisions and unit placements will be made by February 2026.
